How a World Cup trophy made a dog and his owner rich???

The tale of Pickles the dog, who made his owner rich by finding a stolen World Cup trophy.

A canine named Pickles in Norwood, south London, discovered the Jules Rimet Trophy, which had been taken three months previous to the 1966 World Cup in England.
presumably the most recognisable trophy in all of sports is the World Cup trophy for football. 32 nations contend for the coveted trophy, which was created by Italian artist Silvio Gazzaniga, every four times, along with a host of elite football players. still, FIFA did not begin with the Jules Rimet Trophy, which was presented to World Cup titleholders until 1970.
Brazil, which won the World Cup for a record-tying third time in 1970, was the last squad to take home the Jules Rimet trophy. According to FIFA rules at the time, any country that won the World Cup three times became the permanent owner of the Trophy. The 1966 World Cup trophy was stolen from Westminster's Central Hall in England just four months prior to the event.

A week later, the trophy was found in a suburban garden in south London, wrapped in newspaper, by Scotland Yard investigators with the help of Pickles, a black and white collie dog. Even today, it's unclear exactly how the cup was seized or under what circumstances. Additionally, a ransom note demanding 5,000 pounds from a person named Jackson was handed to FA president Joe Mears. Jackson was actually an ex-soldier by the name of Edward Betchley, who was apprehended shortly after transferring the rescue message while carrying a wallet full of newspapers.

On the evening of March 27, 1966, Dave Corbett, a resident of Norwood, left his apartment with his dog Pickles in order to make a phone call. The events that followed changed Corbett and Pickles' lives forever. Pickles was running around over by my neighbour's car. As I was putting the lead on I noticed this package laying there, wrapped just in newspaper but very tightly bound with string," Corbett was quoted by the BBC." I tore a bit off the bottom and there was a blank shield, then there were the words Brazil, West Germany and Uruguay printed. I tore off the other end and it was a lady holding a very shallow dish above her head. I'd seen the pictures of the World Cup in the papers and on television so my heart started thumping,"
Corbett added.
He gave the trophy to the police, who initially believed Corbett was the pincher before realizing how he had rigged up the Jules Rimet trophy. Corbett was unreservedly given payouts from the cup's insurers and guarantors of about 5000 pounds. Contrarily, Pickels became a hero over night and received numerous awards, including a medal from the National Canine Defense League. He won Dog of the Year and Italian Dog of the Year, and Corbett added that he also had TV appearances on Blue Peter and Magpie. Unfortunately, the dog did not live very long after becoming famous and passed away in 1967. In Lingfield, he was interred at the base of Corbett's garden.
The Jules Rimet Trophy went to Brazil in 1970 but 13 times latterly was stolen again and never recovered again. In the early 1970s, FIFA commissioned a new trophy for the 10th World Cup in West Germany in 1974. Fifty- three designs were submitted to FIFA by experts from seven countries, with the final choice being the work of Italian artist Silvio Gazzaniga. But FIFA had learnt its lesson and unlike the former editions, the current trophy remains in the governing body's possession and a replica is awarded to the three- time winners rather. The current base, made of two layers ofsemi-precious malachite, bears the engraved year and name of each World Cup winner since 1974.
